what is it

MULTIPLEX is an experiment in interpretation and restrictions on short form movie making.

More specifically, it's a live film screening show at Videology in Brooklyn, curated by Michael Wolf (Comedy Central, UCB), Ryan McDaid (NoFunFilmClub), and Matt Strickland (MTV).

At each live show, we screen 5 brand-new short films that were all created in the last two months, inspired the same title. We encourage filmmakers not to make the first idea that comes to their mind but rather the 3rd, 4th, or 10th. Typically, the wider the gap between the title and the work, the more interesting the concept is.

How it works

We come up with a title that we find engaging unique and then accept pitch submissions from people who want to make a short 3-6 minute movie with that title.

Because films are cool. And restriction is the key to creativity. And we all get to hang out. Shut up.
